What Is Profhilo® ?

Profhilo® is a skin injectable treatment that delivers hyaluronic acid to all the layers of the skin. Although Profhilo®’s main ingredient is similar to that of fillers and skinboosters, the hyaluronic acid in Profhilo® is significantly different in both concentration and structure. Known as 逆時針 or “Time Reversing Injection”, Profhilo® is a multi-purpose injectable treatment for skin rejuvenation, hydration and collagen stimulation. Founded in Italy, Profhilo® has been widely used in the world since 2015, but for several years, its use has been limited to Europe. The well-reviewed skin injectable treatment has recently received our HSA approval in 2020, and is quickly gaining popularity and has become one of the most popular skin injectable treatments in Singapore.

How Is Profhilo® Different From Other Skin Boosters?

Firstly, the concentration of hyaluronic acid in Profhilo® is about 5 times more than the average skinbooster, making it a skin injectable with the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid in the world.

Secondly, the chemical structure of hyaluronic acid in Profhilo® is also distinct from that of other injectable treatments. Most cross-linked hyaluronic acids before Profhilo® contain a chemical cross-linking agent, called 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether (BDDE). Hyaluronic acid in Profhilo, on the other hand, is thermally cross-linked to form a type of molecule called Hybrid Cooperative Complex (HCC).

The result is Profhilo®’s ability to ‘bio-remodel’ the skin tissue, improving hydration and skin firmness through collagen production. This also allows hyaluronic acids of high and low molecular weight to link together, allowing them to release slowly and dissipate evenly under the skin. In addition, it does not contain additives such as BDDE or Lidocaine. With this unique production process, the injected substance spreads extensively, minimising the risk of lumpiness.

How Does Profhilo® Work?

The key advantage of the Profhilo® treatment, as compared to other skin injection treatments, is the number of injection sites required. With other skin injection treatments, multiple injections are required to distribute the product around the whole face. However, with Profhilo®, due to its unique structure and spreadability under the skin, the number of injection sites is only five on each side of the face and neck using The Bio Aesthetic Point (BAP) technique.

How Soon Can I See Profhilo® Treatment Results?

Profhilo® stimulates collagen production, so it can take weeks before you start seeing firmer skin, as opposed to fillers, which are designed to give an instant lift. Is Profhilo® Safe?

What Can I Expect From A Profhilo® Treatment?

The treatment is generally a very comfortable one. Patients will be prepped with a numbing cream over the injection area. The needle used is made relatively thin for added comfort. To achieve the best long-lasting results for Profhilo® , we recommend 3 treatments, done at day 0, month 1 and again at month 6.

Are There Any Treatments I Can Combine With Profhilo®?

Is There Any Downtime?

Profhilo® has almost no visible side effects as the 100% pure HA used is biocompatible and integrates seamlessly into the skin. There will be small bumps at the injection sites immediately after Profhilo® treatment but these should subside within a few hours. Patients can typically resume their daily activities after the treatment.
